This time, it is Instagram Roundup – Kumaon, Uttarakhand. I was on Blogger Bus 3.0 in July. Blogger Bus is a unique initiative by Uttarakhand Tourism to promote, well, tourism in the state. It entailed a few bloggers travelling through the state, experiencing its beauty, writing about it and amplifying the message for the broader good of their readers. So, I had chosen to showcase the region of Uttarakhand I visited thanks to Blogger Bus 3.0.

Instagram Roundup – Kumaon, Uttarakhand Phase-I

"Rudrapur

👆Just 2 km before Rudrapur, this road sign welcomed us to the land of Gods. From here on, we were well and truly knocked out by Kumaon, one of the two regions of the hill state of Uttarakhand.

"Kathgodam

👆Whether you travel near or far, this staircase at Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam’s Kathgodam Tourist Rest House reminds you of </g>nature’s bounty awaiting you in Kumaon!

"Kenchidham

👆Uttarakhand is known as the land of Gods. Its Kumaon region has its own share of abodes of Gods. Here is the Kenchidham Temple, located at a scenic spot between Naukuchiatal and Khairna.

"Katarmal

👆Located between Sitlakhet and Kausani, Katarmal Sun Temple was built in the 9th Century CE. It is one of the three sun temples in India from that era – the other two being in Konark (Odisha) and Modhera (Gujarat)

"Baijnath

👆Baijnath Temple (different from the Baijnath Temple in Himachal Pradesh) is a Shiva Temple located near Bageshwar. Gomti River encircles this scenically-located ancient shrine!

"Baijnath

👆Here’s a close-up view of Baijnath Temple – a Shiva Temple located near Bageshwar. Even this temple was founded in the 9th Century CE!

"Chaukori

👆Being land of Gods, it stands to reason that the state will have its own share of spiritualism and seats of meditation. Here is a meditation centre</g> located in Chaukori, a small town of Pithoragarh District, situated at an altitude of over 2000 mt.

"Mayawati

👆This meditation centre</g> called Mayawati Ashram is located near Lohaghat. Swami Vivekanand stayed and meditated here in early</g> 20th-century.

"Patal

👆Patal Bhuvneshwar – a cave 30-mt underground – is a highly-revered shrine dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. One needs to rappel down a steep, narrow, slippery, tunnel-like passage to get inside this large cavernous underground cavity that is a magical world unto itself! Patal Bhuvneshwar is about 35 km from Chaukori.

"Patal

👆One of nature’s marvels inside the Patal Bhuvneshwar cave is a bunch of calcified stalactites. Devotees consider it a manifestation of Lord Shiva’s knotted strands of hair.

"Nanakmatta

👆The abodes of Gods in the land of Gods are not just limited to Hindu deities. Nanakmatta, a small town in Udham Singh Nagar District, is a holy shrine (Gurudwara) of Sikhs. A visit each by two Sikh Gurus – Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and the sixth Sikh Guru Hargobind Singh Ji – sanctified it.

"Kosi

👆Kumaon region of Uttarakhand is blessed with unparalleled scenic beauty. The vistas at every turn will take your breath away! The awesome landscapes near Kakrighat on this road along the banks of River Kosi took ours away for sure!

"Naukuchiatal

👆Naukuchiatal (9-cornered lake) is a scenic, serene, emerald-hued waterbody ensconced amidst the verdant hills. It is a short 25-km drive away from Nainital – a bustling hill station in Kumaon.

"Terraced

👆Wherever you go in Kumaon, a vast expanse of terraced-field will greet you. While these look beautiful, farming is not the easiest of the tasks in this rugged terrain!

"Paddy

👆Like I said earlier, farming ain’t easy here. But these hardworking women from Kumaon take immense joy in their seasonal ritual of sowing paddy. Location: A farm near Dholad</g>, just a few kilometres</g> from Kausani.

"Saryu-Ramganga

👆In Kumaon, rivers meet as travellers</g> would during their nomadic pursuits. Check out this Saryu-Ramganga confluence near the village of Panar.

"River

👆As glaciers melt and rivers flow through the valleys, such bridges are an infrastructural necessity to facilitate vehicular movement in the region. To ensure they blend in, most are painted green.

"Green

👆Another green bridge amalgamates itself with its green surroundings!

"Kausani

👆The stunning backdrop of clouds and mountains frame a lone pine in Kausani.

Here, even we can walk on the clouds. Check out this video to know how.
