Angsana Laguna Phuket – A Floating Necklace

Mandatory Disclosure: Angsana Laguna hosted the recent TBEX Asia 2022. As a conference speaker, I spent 6 nights here, one of them in their one-bedroom loft. I promised them a review for that night in the loft. While it is a paid partnership, my views about the resort are authentic and unbiased.

On the west coast of Phuket near Bangtao beach lies a stunning luxury resort, Angsana Laguna Phuket. Seen from above, it is like a necklace floating on a 600,000 sq m lagoon. I call it a luxury resort as its smallest guest accommodation measures 40 sq m while the largest one, a 3-bedroom beachfront suite with a private pool, is a whopping 224 sq m. Compare these to a typical 20 sq m room in a European 5-star, and the place spells ultra-luxe!

The Floating Necklace

The centrepiece of this bejewelled necklace is a large area housing some guest accommodations, a manicured garden, a kids’ play area, the spa wing, an artificial beach pool, a Poolside diner, and a speciality restaurant called Bodega & Grill. Some of the signature structures of the resort, like Baan Talay restaurant, display Thai architecture; not surprising since the property belongs to a Thai hospitality group.

Spread over tens of acres of land and water, many of their guest rooms are in the lagoon. Propped over concrete stilts, these apartments feel like floating accommodations. The experience is like a houseboat. The well-appointed rooms radiate understated elegance.

Of Diners, Grills, and Eateries

Talking about dining options, they spoil you with a choice of seven assorted restaurants and a bar. While Bodega & Grill offers fusion cuisine, Baan Talay is an authentic Thai restaurant that also serves exotic seafood. The breakfast lounge, Market Place, is open only in the morning.

If you want to eat alfresco, take a free boat ride through the lagoon to their floating restaurant, Atoll. Xana and Azura (Italian/Mediterranean cuisine) are by the beach and provide an eye-pleasing view of the ocean. In fact, the view from Xana provides a double delight as it is by the beachfront pool, and you dine here relaxing in a cabana or a sun lounger.

Refresh. Recharge. Reboot.

Despite being here for a conference, I felt an unusual calm throughout as all the spaces in Angsana Laguna exude a relaxed aura. The conference area is close to Loy Krathong, the bar. After the day’s action, it offered a perfect setting to relax with a long drink.

The resort offers recreational facilities for all age groups. A kids’ play area, some exciting watersports in the lagoon for the young and the young-at-heart, rejuvenating spa treatments, refreshing swims in one of the two pools, or a meditative or romantic stroll on the beach. If you are looking to recharge, alone or with family, try Angsana Laguna. It will deliver all the way!
